Who is responsible

This site is operated by Jake Smylie, an individual, in Carlsbad, California. Questions about privacy or about the information held about you can be sent to buyasubie@gmail.com.

What we collect

Information you give us

When you submit a form on this site, we receive what you typed into it. Depending on the form, that is some combination of your name, phone number, email address, the model or trim you're interested in, and any message or company name you choose to add. Providing this is voluntary — you can browse the whole site without submitting anything.

Information collected automatically

Our host, Netlify, records standard server-side request data such as IP address, page requested, referring page, and browser type. This is used to understand which pages are being read. It is collected on the server rather than by a script in your browser, so this site does not set cookies or run analytics or advertising trackers.

Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which means your browser makes a request to Google's servers and Google receives your IP address as part of that request. We do not receive anything from that request.

What we do with it

• Reply to you about the vehicle you asked about, by text, email or phone.
• Prepare pricing, availability and out-the-door figures for you.
• Pass the details needed to complete a purchase to AutoNation Subaru Carlsbad, where the actual sale takes place.
• Understand which pages are useful so the site can be improved.

We do not use your information for automated decision-making, and we do not build advertising profiles.

What we don't do

• We do not sell your personal information, and we never have.
• We do not share it with data brokers, lead aggregators, or third-party marketers.
• We do not add you to a mailing list because you asked a question. Newsletter sign-up is a separate, deliberate action.

Who else touches it

• Netlify — hosts the site and processes form submissions.
• Google — Gmail carries the form notifications; Google Search Console reports how the site performs in search (aggregate data, not your form submission).
• AutoNation Subaru Carlsbad — receives the details needed to write and complete a deal, and handles that information under its own policies.

We may also disclose information if required by law.

How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept as long as needed to help you, and afterwards for a reasonable period for record-keeping. Ask us to delete your information and we will, unless a completed transaction requires the dealership to retain records.

Your choices

You can ask us to tell you what information we hold about you, correct it, or delete it. You can ask us to stop contacting you at any time and we will stop. Email buyasubie@gmail.com and we'll handle it — there's no form to fight with and no retention team to get past.

California residents have rights under California privacy law regarding access to, deletion of, and sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under that law. Exercising any of these rights will not cause us to treat you differently.

Children

This site is meant for people old enough to buy a car. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information here, contact us and we'll delete it.

Security

The site is served over HTTPS and form submissions are transmitted encrypted. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so please don't send sensitive information — social security numbers, driver's licence numbers, bank or card details — through a form on this site. Anything of that kind belongs in the dealership's secure process, never in an email or a web form.

Changes

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new date at the top.
