The Honest Ladder
The honest question at this rung: what exactly is the last $3,630 buying you? Limited XT at $44,365 has the same 260-hp turbo and the leather-and-power comfort layer — for a lot of buyers, that really is 95% of the Touring XT. If the Nappa interior and the last few checked boxes are what you actually want, stay here with a clear conscience. If you paused, we just saved you $3,630.
There isn't one — this IS the everything-top of the 2026 Outback. No trim above it, no package beyond it. The only step up is a different model entirely: if you need a third row, that's an Ascent conversation, and we're happy to have it just as honestly.
No pressure either way — we make the same honest recommendation whether you spend $34,995 or $47,995.

The questions buyers ask right before they decide on this trim.
It's the whole 2026 Outback catalog in one VIN — the 260-hp turbo and the Nappa-leather everything-tier, with nothing above it and nothing left off it. At $47,995 starting MSRP it's also the most expensive way to buy an Outback: $13,000 over a Premium with identical space and safety. The turbo has to earn a lot of that gap.
The Touring XT, at $47,995 starting MSRP — the top of both ladders at once, luxury and turbo. There's no trim above it and no package beyond it. The only step up is a different model: if you need a third row, that's an Ascent conversation, and we're happy to have it just as honestly.
Interior, and only interior. The Limited XT at $44,365 starting MSRP has the identical 260-hp turbo plus the leather-and-power comfort layer — for a lot of buyers that genuinely is 95% of this car. If the Nappa interior and the last few checked boxes are what you want, stay here with a clear conscience. If you paused, we just saved you $3,630.
Yes. A bigger engine working harder uses more fuel than the base engine — you pay for the muscle at signing and again at the pump. That's worth factoring in if the turbo is a want rather than a need. If you never tow, never load up and never leave the flats, the 180-hp trims do the same daily job for thousands less.
