Outback Limited vs Limited XT — is the turbo worth it?
Limited starts at $41,715 and Limited XT at $44,365 starting MSRP. Limited runs the same 180 hp as the base engine — you're paying for comfort, not muscle. The XT's turbo is what makes the difference for towing, mountain grades, and loaded road trips. If you regularly haul gear, kids, and a trailer, the $2,650 for the turbo is the better spend than any trim step above it.
Is the Outback Touring worth it?
We'd usually say no. Touring starts at $45,395 MSRP and the Limited XT costs less at $44,365 and adds the turbo. Touring XT at $47,995 is the most expensive way to buy an Outback. If you want the full luxury interior and don't need the turbo, Touring is a real answer — but most buyers get more car for less money by choosing Limited XT.
Is the Outback Wilderness worth it?
If you actually drive dirt roads to a cabin or trailhead, yes. Wilderness starts at $44,995 MSRP and it's the most capable Outback off pavement, but you give up fuel economy and get a busier highway ride. Every Outback already has symmetrical AWD and X-MODE. For pavement, coastal driving, and the occasional gravel lot, a Premium or Limited is the more comfortable daily car.
What's the cheapest new Outback?

Does the Outback tow?
Yes, and the trim you pick changes how well. The non-turbo Outbacks run 180 hp; the XT trims add the turbo that makes towing and mountain grades noticeably easier.
