The Honest Automatic.

No manual, no apology. The GT is the WRX for the driver whose left leg has done its time in traffic โ€” and it's the only trim that changes how the car rides at the push of a button.

What GT Adds

The commute-and-canyon double life.

  • Electronically adjustable dampers โ€” civil on the 5 Monday morning, sharp on Ortega Sunday morning
  • Recaro seats โ€” the proper hardware for both halves of that sentence
  • The SPT automatic โ€” legitimately good now, and we'll say that with a straight face
  • The full 271-hp turbo and rally-bred AWD, same as every WRX

The Honest Trade-Off

Two things, said plainly.

  • No manual โ€” full stop. If the third pedal is the point, this is the wrong page; the tS is the same money with the 6MT
  • Same engine as the $32,495 Base โ€” $44,995 buys dampers, seats, and the automatic, not one extra horsepower
  • The Limited with the SPT auto is $39,995 โ€” if the adjustable dampers don't call to you, that's $5,000 back

$44,995 starting MSRP โ€” your out-the-door number comes in writing before you set foot on a lot.

Step Down? Step Up?

Step down?

The Limited with the SPT automatic at $39,995 is the question to answer honestly. It keeps the two pedals, the Recaros, the Harman Kardon โ€” the commuter comforts โ€” and saves you $5,000. What it doesn't have is the adjustable dampers. If your weekend roads are real and frequent, the GT earns its price; if they're occasional, the Limited is the smarter signature.

Step up?

There's no rung above the GT on the two-pedal path โ€” this is the top of it. The tS at the same $44,995 isn't a step up, it's a fork: 6MT only, STI-tuned dampers, Brembos โ€” a different philosophy at the same price. If you're torn between them, the transmission decides it, not us. Beyond both, the only step up is a different car entirely.

No pressure either way โ€” we make the same honest recommendation whether you spend $32,495 or $44,995. No markup games, ever.
